Best answer:

Answer by Cardboard cutout
Well the Government does give grants to college students as I believe this area to be a forum for. As far a business grants to foreign nationals you need to check with the U. S. Department of State. You might get some information from the Small Business Association and a public reference librarian.

Question by shane o: What is the minimum amount of income to receive federal grants from the government for college?
I know about stafford loans but how bout grants

Best answer:

Answer by NotAnyoneYouKnow
Shane:

There is no “income to grant” chart that says “Families with $ XX,XXX of income get a grant” – there are far too many variables.

If financial aid was that simple, the FAFSA application would be 2 questions long – “What’s your name, and how much do your parents make?” This year’s FAFSA had 104 questions, so you can plainly see that the process is a lot more complicated than that.

You’ll be eligible for the need-based forms of financial aid, which include the grants, if your EFC score is 4041 or less. You’ll have to complete the FAFSA, provide all of that info to the Department of Education, and let them tell you what your EFC is.

The federal government is NOT the only source of education money (though they are far and away the largest source) – states and schools have money for students, too. In California, for example, students are considered for Cal Grants – and the high cost of living in California enables students to qualify for grants even if their parents earn an income that would be considered quite comfortable in some of the other US states.

If you’re wondering what percentage of aid applicants DO qualify for need-based forms of aid, that number historically hovers around 1/3 of all applicants. The grants are intended only for THE most financially disadvantaged families – and the government provides cheap and easy access to loan money for the other 2/3 of aid applicants. The Stafford loan program is the centerpiece of financial aid, not the grants.

I hope that helps – good luck!

Question by dubbya: Why are my Federal Pell grants paid AFTER the semester ends?
For the 2008-2009 summer session my federal Pell grant is being awarded exactly one month AFTER the summer session will have ended. It doesn’t make sense to me; shouldn’t the financial aid be awarded at the beginning of the respective session? Can I expect the Pell grant to be awarded AFTER the fall and spring sessions have ended, respectively?

Best answer:

Answer by Abby G
You should read your campus’s Financial Aid Handbook. If your aid is being held until the semester has ended the policy will be clearly outlined in the handbook. If you submitted your FAFSA late and completed verification with your school late, then your aid is late because of the late start.

Do they only give them to non-profit organizations, or can it be any type of business I want? I took a look at a government grant site but the guidelines seemed unclear, is there a grant expert I can go to, to help me through the search and apply process?

I appreciate all positive help and feedback, thank you.

Best answer:

Answer by Judy
Those grant sites are scams.
There is only one Grants.gov

They issue grants if you want to do things that bring goodness to the community.
Such as builing a park in a big city.
Setting up a day care in a crime ridden neighborhood
Opening a supermarket in a bad area.
Saving the owels in Michigan.
Restoring a building in a historical area.

Nothing as the likes for setting up a nail salon or a coffee shop.
.

Best answer:

Answer by spalmer
You are usually awarded a lump sum for the school year, but it is disbursed each semester. So, if you’re awarded $ 5,000 in a Pell grant, that would be the amount for the full school year. If you only went 1 semester, you’d only receive ~ $ 2,500 for that semester.

My husband and I bought a house that is a little over 100 years old about a year and a half ago. We are hoping to fininsh the remodeling, renovation, and addition here within the year. We were told that there were programs out there to receive grants for these projects. Can you assist with some possible sites to look at. Maybe even ones where the military are concerned as he is active.
